When did you decide to go natural and why?

In 2008. I didn’t really have a reason to go natural. I was talking with a friend who was considering it and she said “out of our friends, if anybody would do it with me it would be you”. With my I’ll try anything once attitude I decided to go on the natural hair journey with her and I haven’t looked back.

When did you decide to go natural and why?

I began to contemplate going natural around January 2009. My Great-Grandma who is now 92 years old told me that one of her friends was going ape sh*t crazy in her old age. My Grandma attributed the madness to ‘all that perm fried up her brain.’ Her comment and my exposure to the Rastafarian spiritual movement solidified my decision to go natural. Oh, and the Coke can in Chris Rock’s ‘Good Hair.’ My final relaxer was on April 4, 2009. It was the day of my probate and flexi rods were mandatory. When did you decide to go natural and why?
I decided to go natural in late 2007 because I wanted more versatility with my hair.  I knew that only by being natural would I be able to wear my hair big, straight, curly, twisted, etc. – ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!  I transitioned for about 8-9 months, big chopped, and haven’t looked back since.  It will be five years in August.
