When did you decide to go natural and why?

Melissa: My last relaxer was March 10, 2012 but I didn’t fully decide to make a full commitment to being natural until July 2012. I wish I had a really great life altering story to explain why I decided to go natural but the truth of the matter is my hair was so unhealthy and beyond repair that if I had put one more chemical into it I probably would have lost all of my hair. I wasn’t taking care of my hair the way I should have and after taking out a weave in July I decided that I would stop putting in relaxers indefinitely, grow out the color I had in my hair and dive fully into taking care of my hair in its natural state to ensure I had healthy hair.

Shakira: I decided to go natural in March of 2012. I was searching for a hairstylist after getting a horrible color job. So I had been doing my own hair at that point, pretty much washing and straightening. So I decided at that point I would be a straight natural and stop relaxing all together. I was really excited thinking this is great I can color my hair now wear it curly or straight this will be amazing. So this led me to research being natural and transitioning. Through doing my research I stumbled across a site, which said that if u want to see your true curl pattern you can’t use too much heat because it will damage it. So since reading that I haven’t used the flat iron again.

Introduce yourselves:

Jazmine: Why hellllllo!! ::insertjazzhandshere:: ….I am Jazmine Harrison!!  One ½ of the Harrison girls dynamic duo!! Ok I just gave you a lot lol. But seriously, I am a 27 year old (28 on 9-29-13…”what’s yo zodiac siiiiign…LIBRA”!!!) southern belle. I would say I am a bit of a fireball. Well maybe a mix between a fireball and a cool summer breeze J, I monogram most all things…ok everything. If it’s blank it’s safe to say it will be stamped lol

Beyonce is my older sister in my head… no seriously. I am in the Bey-hive and I’m buzzing over here! If you know me, then you know allllll about my Bey stanism (definitely not a word lol). I think I go into a trance when her songs come on…scary O_O.

My sister is my side kick. If you don’t know her then you are missing something in your life! We are probably like Tia and Tamera to most but just regular old gals to me!

Jamia: Hey friends! I am Jamia Harrison, the little Harrison sister! I am 23 years (24 in September! Hey Virgos! ) and I currently live in Charlotte, NC! My mother would describe me as her free spirit child but I just enjoy a good time! I love all things monogrammed, southern, and fabulous!

When did you decide to go natural and why?
–I decided to go natural during the summer of 2009. What brought me to
this decision was a haircut I hated and a desire for change. I got an
abundance of inspiration to embrace my natural hair from watching
Youtube. I transitioned for 8 months, and Big Chopped on May 28, 2009.
I will be celebrating my 3 year Nappiversary this year.

Catch up with P Roy below:

When did you decide to go natural and why?
I decided to go natural in late 2007 because I wanted more versatility with my hair.  I knew that only by being natural would I be able to wear my hair big, straight, curly, twisted, etc. – ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES!  I transitioned for about 8-9 months, big chopped, and haven’t looked back since.  It will be five years in August.
