CurlKit February Review

Guess who’s BI-ZACK with another unboxing review. I told you guys last month that I recently subscribed to CurlKit, a $20 subscription service that caters to naturally curly hair and offers 6-9 samples per month.

Pop the hood to see what I received in the February box!

This month I received:

  • Cantu Shea Butter Creamy Hair Lotion (Full Size Product)

Ingredients: Water (Aqua) , Canola Oil , Cetearyl Alcohol , Ceteareth 20 , Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) , Fragrance , Stearalkonium Chloride , Glycol Stearate , Cetyl Alcohol , Cocos Nucifera Oil (Coconut) , Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado) , Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond) , Simmondsia Chinensis Oil (Jojoba) , Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive) , Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice , Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter , Melia Azadirachta Seed Oil (Neem) , Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil (Carrot) , Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil (Macadamia) , Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil , Lonicera Japonica Flower Extract (Honeysuckle) , Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract , Vitis Vinifera Seed Extract (Grape) , Urtica Dioica Extract (Nettle) , Silk Amino Acids , Phenoxyethanol , Ethylhexylglycerin

I don’t particularly care for too many alcohols in hair products but there are other ingredients in this product that are good for your hair. Plus, it smells great so I’m looking forward to trying it.

  • Giovanni Deep Moisture Conditioner (sample)

Ingredients: Aqua (purified water), *aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, *helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, *glycine soja (soybean) seed extract, *betula alba (birch) extract, *malva sylvestris (mallow) extract, *achillea millefolium extract, *chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, *equisetum arvense extract, *lavandula angustifolia (lavender) extract, *rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, *salvia sciarea (clary) extract, *thymus vulgaris (thyme) extract, *tussilago farfara (coltsfoot) flower extract, *urtica dioca (nettle) extract, citrus grandis (grapefruit) extract, cetyl alcohol, tocopherol (vitamin E), panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), citric acid, phenoxyethanol, natural fragrance.

I’ve never heard of this line but it smells good! Another product I’m excited to try.

  • Mixed Chicks Trial & Travel Pack Shampoo, Deep Conditioner, & Leavin Conditioner Sample

I’ve always heard good things about the Mixed Chicks line but felt it was a little too pricey to experiment with lol guess this is my chance to do just that!

  • Pooka Mint n Roses Spa Soak

Ingredients: Epsom Salt, Peppermint essential Oil, Roses, Fragrance

What a TREAT!! Smells AWESOME I can’t wait to treat myself to a at home spa date!

  • Organic Jamaican Almond Oil Sample

The funny thing is, I was in the beauty store yesterday looking at oils, I made the right decision by not purchasing anything. Now I can try this!

  • Oyin Burnt Sugar Mini Pomade Sample

Ingredients: Ricinus communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Glycine soja (Soybean) Oil, Organic Virgin Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Mangifera indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Olea europaea (Olive) Oil, Unrefined Cannabis sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Brassica oleracea italica (Broccoli) Seed Oil, Fragrance.

If you haven’t already noticed … I’m a sucker for anything that smells good. This smells AMAZING! (Very sweet smell reminds me of maple syrup but not as sweet) I’ve already used some on my hair and skin. I would definitely purchase the full size product!

  • Charming Terry Turban Towel

YES, YES, & YES!! I will be putting this to use this weekend.

I’m a stickler for natural ingredients so a couple of the products get a so-so in my book. However, I LOVE the Oyin pomade and the turban towel will be so useful! I particularly enjoyed the CurlLife magazine. It’s like a real magazine with a note from the editor, kit contents, Curly Love, Curl History, a small business spotlight & more!

I definitely received $20 worth of products and samples if not more! I was also introduced to some brands that I’m not familiar with which is always a plus. All and all Curlkit’s February box was a major win! I am very happy that I subscribed and l’m looking forward to next month’s box!

There is no waiting list to subscribe, so if you would like to find out more information about CurlKit click here.

What do you think about CurlKit’s February box?

  1. In your opinion are these boxes really worth the money? Can’t a person request samples on their own without paying that fee? But I guess they can expose someone to brands that they have never heard of…

  2. In my opinion, this box & others like it are worth the money when they expose me to brands that I’m not familiar with. I also like when they include a product that is worth more than $20 (ie the LipBar lipstick in January’s Brown Box), it really makes me feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. With that being said, when subscription boxes start including products that I can purchase from the local beauty supply store …. I cancel my subscription with no qualms! Because my $240 (12X$20) can be spent else where lol

    • Yeah, I’ve hesitated in joining a service because when I see the unboxing on blogs and YT they seem to mostly contain drug store products with one specialty brand. Thanks for the reply.
